From my experience working with trades, a topic that comes up a lot is how can I improve the quality of my leads? It’s a question I get as common as how can I get more leads.

Having leads is great, and it’s the only way to really grow or scale a business. But having leads that are valuable and actually worth your time is even better and can really take a trades business from a single van to a fleet of vans on the road.

Let’s dive into a few ways we help our clients generate higher-quality leads.

Use a visual survey to capture more information about leads

A visual survey is basically a contact form that allows you to capture much more information. A visual survey is a slide of questions that capture the exact information you want to know.

A traditional contact form will capture a name, email and phone number. But a visual survey can capture what ever you want without boring the user.

For example, an artificial grass installer can find out how big a leads garden is, what type of artificial grass they want, when they want it installed, and what their budget is.

Here’s an example of a visual survey in action: Artificial Grass Guru.

Visual surveys are also great as the user doesn’t know how much info they’re giving away most of the time, and by the time their at the end of the survey, you have so much more information, allowing you to determine if they’re a good lead or a bad lead.

Most of the time, if they’ve filled out the visual survey, they’re probably quite a good lead!

Use a different source of traffic to increase the value of your leads

Different lead sources can significantly enhance the value of your leads, particularly for trades based in the UK.

Utilising diverse lead sources such as online advertising, social media platforms, referrals, and partnerships can diversify your lead pool and increase conversion rates.

For instance, a study by Hootsuite highlights that 48% of UK consumers use social media to research products and services, indicating a rich potential for high-quality leads from social media campaigns.

Additionally, online reviews and referrals remain powerful lead generators; nearly 30% of UK consumers state they are more likely to trust and engage with companies that come recommended by friends or family.

By strategically tapping into various lead sources, trades can broaden their reach, enhance credibility, and improve the overall quality and value of leads, ultimately driving business growth.

Your business is non-existent online

If no one can find your business, how do you expect anyone to get in touch, let alone the high quality leads in your area?

You need to have a website, or at least an online presence. Here’s a checklist on everything you need to do to have a good online presence:

  • Make or have a professional website built for your business
  • Optimise that website for search engines (SEO) to get found locally.
  • Leverage Social Media Platforms
  • Invest in Paid Advertising
  • Encourage Online Reviews and Testimonials
  • Create Valuable Content
  • Monitor and Analyse Performance
